Provenance

Acquired by a well-known acquaintance of the artist, directly from Agnes Martin in 1995.

The painting is unsigned and is not currently included in the catalogue. However, other works by Agnes Martin have been acquired by this same owner then sold privately as well as through auction and have been accredited, due to this owner’s clear provenance as an important collector of Agnes Martin, as artworks that would have otherwise been left behind.
Acquired directly from Agnes Martin by Marcia Oliver, purchased by 203 FA. June 2024.  

Marcia Oliver is listed in the provenance on over a dozen artworks, both paintings and drawings, which have been included in the Agnes Martin Catalogue Raisonné.  M. Oliver never submitted any of these items for entry into the catalogue.  The individuals who acquired the artwork by Agnes Martin from M. Oliver submitted the artworks after they acquired it from Oliver and the Catalogue Raisonné is now closed.
