203 Fine Art: An Artist-Run Gallery
203 Fine Art was established in 2006 by artists Eric Andrews and Shaun Richel, with the vision of founding a venue for contemporary art in the traditionally inclined art landscape of Taos, New Mexico. As an artist-owned gallery, 203 Fine Art's selection of offerings is curated with an artist's eye for truly quality works.
For over twenty years, both gallery founders have been creating and exhibiting their own works. Richel has a background in interior design, while Andrews has a liberal arts degree and fifteen years of experience as a gallery director selling Taos Founders, early Taos, and Santa Fe art colony works.
Collectively, Richel and Andrews have a wide range of knowledge in contemporary regional art, the Los Angeles 1960s Cool School, and the New York Abstract Expressionist and San Francisco Abstract schools. These historic art movements have all had a significant influence on the artists who lived and worked in Taos from the 1940s onward. Through years of research and community encounters, many of these artists have become the focus of our gallery's knowledge.
The gallery specializes in early Taos Moderns, pre-war and post-war American Modern art, and mid-century Abstract Expressionist art. However, we also offer works from select contemporary, modern, and abstract Taos artists. This enables us to offer a wide range of highly collectible works. We represent the estates of several significant artists, as well as private and public collections, and have accumulated the largest assemblage of works by the early Taos Moderns.
Our showroom, which resembles a New York loft, features eighteen-foot-tall white walls with great light. Along with offering high-quality artwork, we also provide art and interior design consultations and can assist with determining the value of art collections.
203 Fine Art is a premiere art destination, located two miles south of downtown Taos, with plenty of parking. We offer a personalized art experience, available daily by appointment.
