Summer Interim: New Acquisitions
203 Fine Art is pleased to present several newly acquired artworks by some of Taos’ most profound modern artists. Some of these are currently on display in our summer interim installation, including a monumental painting by Emil Bisttram, a founding member of the Transcendental Art Movement in New Mexico. This painting commands the space with interconnected symbols and floating consciousnesses, a classic example of transcendentalism, dated 1951, and at 7 feet tall, it could be the largest-scale work ever created by Bisttram. Other significant works on view include an early 1917 watercolor by Georgia O’Keeffe and four original mixed media paintings on paper by Agnes Martin, along with works by fellow Taos Moderns, Beatrice Mandelman, Louis Ribak, Leo Garel, and a lovely work by Marcia Oliver, as well as several paintings by our newly represented artist Joel Greene.
