Shaun Richel: Glimpses

203 Fine Art is pleased to present a solo exhibition of new oil paintings by longtime Taos artist Shaun Richel. “Glimpses” features partial landscapes fragmented by daily life in Northern New Mexico. The artist takes inspiration from the glimpses of land and light that dance through car windows on long drives between the mesa and the mountains. Her palette sings to a different light, unique to the golds and greens commonly found in Southwest art, instead pulling on warmer pinks and greys. Across the 15 new works by Richel, her textures and strokes blend between recognizable landforms and meditative abstraction.

Shaun Richel was born in Canada, and at age 11, her family moved to Southern California. She has been involved in the arts since her early twenties. She is a fine artist who paints and draws both the landscape and non-objective abstraction: “What I most want to express in my work is its ‘painterliness’. I have no objective other than my choice of colors and to see where the paintings goes from there...”
